Springfield 1884 "Trapdoor": .45-70. Used. Rifle, Springfield Model of 1884 - s/n 523803. This rifle was actually $600
manufactured in 1890. Also known as the Rod Bayonet Springfield "Trapdoor" caliber .45-70. The Buffington sight is
calibrated for the 500 grain bullet. The bore is mint. The cartouche is correct [SWP] for Samuel Porter, inspector. The
proof mark is also correct. Stock is cracked in a couple places (see pics), minor dings. The rod bayonet is missing. The
hammer screw is not authentic. The 1884 breech block is. Minor bend in the front sling swivel and stacking swivel.
Minor rust spots on metal surfaces. (now called "patina" according to the person that gave me this information) This rifle
is considered in fair shape for an 1884 sample, though not recommended to be fired because it may cause the stock to
crack further. NO FFL REQUIRED. This rifle is considered an antique.
